The Kanata Minor Hockey Association focuses on maintaining and increasing interest in hockey by providing the opportunity to participate in hockey. Emphasis is on the enhancement of healthy recreation, good  sportsmanship and citizenship.

The KMHA is a recognized affiliate of the Ottawa District Minor Hockey Association (O.D.M.H.A.), the governing body of minor hockey within the Ottawa District Hockey Association (O.D.H.A.), one of the 12 branches of the Canadian Hockey Association (C.H.A.), the governing body of amateur hockey in Canada.

The KMHA is the sole member of O.D.M.H.A. District 11.
